Join Our Forklift Workshop Team
Forklift Truck Depot Limited is looking for a reliable and hardworking Workshop Assistant to join our team in Barnsley.
This is a practical, hands-on role focused on preparing and restoring used forklift trucks before they are sold, hired or delivered to customers. You will help ensure every truck leaves our workshop clean, well presented and prepared to a high standard.
Previous forklift experience is not essential. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail and is willing to learn.

What You'll Be Doing
Cleaning, pressure washing and degreasing forklift trucks
Cleaning forklift cabs, seats and operator areas
Removing old stickers, decals and adhesive
Fitting basic replacement parts under instruction
Sanding panels and components ready for painting
Masking trucks before paintwork begins
Assisting with painting and general refurbishment
Keeping tools, equipment and working areas clean and organised
Preparing forklifts for sale, hire and customer delivery
Supporting engineers and other workshop staff when required
Following workshop health and safety procedures
Carrying out final presentation checks before trucks leave the depot
What We Are Looking For
You will be reliable, hardworking and comfortable carrying out practical, physical work throughout the day. You should be able to follow instructions, work as part of a team and complete tasks without needing constant supervision.

Attention to detail is important. We need someone who takes pride in preparing each forklift properly rather than rushing to get the job finished.
​
Experience in vehicle preparation, valeting, bodywork, paint preparation, mechanics or another workshop-based role would be helpful, but it is not essential. Full training will be provided for the right person.
​
You must be willing to learn, use basic hand tools safely and help wherever needed within the workshop.
